Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed ICU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and TNCC certification.

Details

• Mixed ICU unit (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) with 39 beds in a hospital setting
• Complex patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases; diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma
• Heavy trauma patient volume
• Cardiac experience preferred, particularly CABG/TAVR 24–48 hrs post-op
• Patient ratios are acuity-dependent: 1:1, 1:2, or rarely 1:3
• EMR: Epic (required); also uses Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter) and Omnicell
• 12-hour day shifts, 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation
• No on-call requirements
• Floating is uncommon but possible to adult floors including Med/Surg and Tele at a 1:4 ratio

Requirements

• Active RN license — SD license or compact license accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (must be obtained prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (excluding travel experience) strongly preferred; candidates with at least 1.5 years of ICU experience plus significant RN experience outside of ICU may be considered
• At least one prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
• Experience with hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry monitoring
• Impella, IABP, and CRRT experience strongly preferred
• Must reside more than 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
• 2 professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to a diverse, high-acuity ICU population with a strong trauma focus
• Unit support includes 1–2 CNAs per unit plus a mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, a resource nurse (staffing dependent), 24/7 respiratory therapy, and robust physician coverage (3 intensivists on days, 2 on nights plus an APP on nights)
• Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift and one 8-hour shift on the ICU unit, plus hospital orientation
• No RTO approved during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August); up to 7 days of RTO may be approved otherwise, with an extension required to complete the full 13-week contract
• Navy scrubs required

• Former permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
