Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ER experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Work setting is a 222-bed Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- Emergency Department (ER) unit
- Patient population includes trauma, pediatric, cardiac arrest, stroke, STEMI, mental health, and sexual assault patients
- Patient ratio is 1:3
- Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (3x12-hour shifts)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- May float between the Belleville and East (Shiloh) campuses, as well as inpatient floors, as needed
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting is done in Epic; experience is required
- Free parking on-site
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required (pending IL license is acceptable for consideration)
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department RN experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Preferred certifications: CPI and TNCC
- RQI cards are not accepted in place of required certifications
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Experience with central line insertion, arterial lines, chest tubes, intubations, and post-cardiac arrest hypothermia protocols
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include management of high-acuity cases such as code strokes, code STEMIs, code blues, trauma patients, pediatric patients, sexual assault cases, and mental health patients requiring placement
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of BJC facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Navy scrubs are required
- Local candidates (within 75 miles of the facility) are not eligible for this position
