Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Nursing Float Pool - Telemetry position at a Level III Trauma Center in Grafton, WI, requiring telemetry experience and the ability to float across multiple med/surg units.

Details

• Work setting is a 136-bed Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Primary Stroke Center in Grafton, WI
• Float Pool RN rotating across multiple med/surg units: General Surgical (MS1), Cardiac Neuro (MS2), Oncology (MS3), Ortho (MS4), 3W Cardiac Telemetry/PCU, Surgical Surge Admission Holding Unit, and ED Holding
• Patient populations include general surgical, cardiac (post-cath, CHF, A-fib), neuro (stroke, TIA), oncology/neutropenic, orthopedic post-surgical, and high-acuity cardiac stepdown patients
• Patient ratios: RN 1:5 days / 1:6 nights
• Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, drain management (JP, Hemovac), NGT placement and management, central line/PICC management, CBI, wound care, and wound VAC
• Charting system: Epic (preferred); equipment includes Alaris pumps and Pyxis
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0730, 36 hours per week; day shifts (0700–1930) also exist within float pool scheduling
• Weekend rotation: every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to MSUs, Surge Overflow, ED Holding, Surgical Surge Unit, and ICUs (as helping hands, taskers, or runners — no patient assignments or medication administration outside RN scope)

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 12 months of recent core experience in a med/surg or telemetry specialty
• Telemetry experience required
• Strong general med/surg skillset required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• One professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the past year, required for consideration
• Candidate's middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of 1 shift: begins with the Nurse Educator for new employee orientation (NEO), followed by time with a preceptor on an assigned MS unit
• Unit support includes a Charge Nurse (with patient assignment), Unit Secretary (0700–1900), RT 24/7, Hospitalist 24/7, Phlebotomy for peripheral draws, and centralized telemetry monitoring with a tele tech
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday based on start date and department needs
• Scheduling is done in 6-week blocks, distributed 1–2 weeks in advance; RTO requests go to the Nurse Manager
• Scrubs: any color accepted; no camouflage, denim, or logos; protective, wipeable footwear required; no earbuds or AirPods permitted
