Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position at an acute care hospital in Bismarck, ND, requiring at least 2 years of med/surg experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in Bismarck, ND
- Med/Surg Float Pool unit with 61 combined beds
- Patient population includes surgical patients (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical patients (CHF, CVA, shortness of breath, diabetic complications)
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 on days, 1:6 on nights
- Nurse aides on unit with a 1:15 ratio
- Telemetry is present on the unit; monitor techs read strips and RNs confirm
- RT equipment available includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Charting system: Epic
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- On-call/standby requirement with LCD
- Travelers are first to float within the float pool
Requirements
- Active ND or compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current BLS certification required; pending certifications will not be accepted
- Minimum 2 years of med/surg RN experience required
- BSN not required
- Drivers license required for consideration
Additional Information
- 13-week contract
- Orientation consists of a travel CBO session and a unit-specific float pool checklist (12 orientation hours total)
- Any scrub color is acceptable
- Two professional references are required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years; references must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
