Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a night shift travel contract at a Level I academic trauma center in Charleston, SC, with scrub experience strongly preferred.
Details
- Position is in the Main Operating Room of a Level I academic trauma center and Magnet-designated hospital with 21 OR suites
- Surgical specialties covered include Trauma, Transplant, Orthopedics, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
- RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
- Nursing team is composed of approximately 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
- Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Up to one working weekend shift every 4 weeks is required
- Floating within scope to like units or sister facilities may be required to meet facility needs
- Charting is performed in Epic
- No on-call responsibilities
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS
- Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
- Level I trauma center experience required
- Scrub experience strongly preferred
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- The Main OR is described as a busy, nurse-driven department offering cutting-edge surgical technology
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the standard travel rate; local candidates within 60 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
- Traveler is required to work at least one holiday period (Christmas: Dec. 24–26 or New Year's: Dec. 31–Jan. 1)
- Online modules must be completed prior to the start of the assignment
- Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
- During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak months are August and September
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
