Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mixed Acuity Med/Surg Tele (MPCU) position requiring solid neuro experience and proficiency with cardiac drips on a 12-hour night shift schedule.

- Short-term acute care hospital with 194 staffed beds
- Mixed acuity unit (MPCU) providing both med/surg and progressive care (PCU) levels of care
- Specialty areas include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary
- MS patient ratio is 1:5-6; PCU patient ratio is 1:3-4
- Patient population includes unstable strokes, oncology, cardiac, and pulmonary cases
- Procedures and drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Insulin infusions, as well as post heart cath and post pacemaker care
- BiPAP management required
- Charting in Cerner (experience required)
- Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
Requirements
- Active IN state RN license or compact RN license in hand prior to start; IN temporary license also accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
- Solid neuro nursing experience required
- Background in MS/Tele or PCU nursing required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited university required
- Candidates who are or have been permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must be prepared to manage cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Insulin, Lasix) and care for post-procedural cardiac patients
- Candidates should be comfortable caring for unstable stroke patients and managing BiPAP
- Scrub uniform: red top, black bottoms
- Parking is free
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of 5 days or fewer may be auto-approved
- Indiana-licensed RNs are not eligible for this unit type under current facility policy (MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, ER); this restriction does not apply to Periop/OR, Allied, or Ambulatory RN travelers
