Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical Unit position requiring acute care surgical floor experience and a valid OK or compact RN license.
Details
- Post Surgical Unit (4E) within an acute care hospital setting
- Patients are primarily pre- and post-surgical, including those requiring stepdown/PCU-level care
- Candidate must have experience caring for patients with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT, or DHT
- ENT and/or Transplant experience is preferred
- Patient ratios are 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for stepdown patients
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required — AHA certifications only accepted
- Minimum of 1 year of acute care surgical floor nursing experience
- Stepdown/PCU experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- OR (operating room) candidates will not be accepted
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing assigned patients post-operatively, monitoring physiological data, administering medications, managing IV infusions and blood products, and delegating tasks to support staff
- Nurses will interact with patients and families regarding care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge planning
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a new contract (prior contracts are limited to one extension, for a total of 26 weeks)
- Compliance requirements — including drug screens, background checks, and medical documentation — must be initiated immediately upon offer acceptance
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced and non-negotiable; start dates will not be adjusted for incomplete compliance
