Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Specialty Step Down (Med/Surg Tele) position requiring at least one year of experience and an active OK or compact RN license.
Details
- Hospital-based position in a Medicine Specialty Step Down unit
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
- Med/Surg Step Down (MS/SD) experience required
- ICU experience preferred
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients, including documenting responses to nursing interventions and physician order changes
- Obtains and monitors physiological data, administers medications as prescribed, and manages IV infusions and blood products
- Collaborates with physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Communicates care plans and discharge information to patients and families
- Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may not re-engage until after a 6-month separation period following a maximum of 26 weeks (one extension) of continuous service
- All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced — candidates should be prepared to begin onboarding immediately upon acceptance of an offer

The unit I was on was mostly made up of travel nurses, which they seem the hire some of the laziest people I’ve ever met. There is a reason they offer such a high pay rate because this place is horrible.
