Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Direct Observation Unit (Telemetry) position in Urbana, IL, requiring Epic EMR experience and Level 1 Trauma background.

Details

• Medical observation unit (T6) in a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
• No on-call requirements
• Six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
• Float to similar units as needed

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temp license accepted)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience
• Level 1 Trauma experience within the past 6–12 months, with the facility listed on the resume
• Epic EMR experience required
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
• Proficient IV insertion and site assessment skills
• Strong critical thinking and independent judgment
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Assess IV sites every 4 hours and initiate new IVs per facility policy
• Complete admission assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation in compliance with quarterly chart audit standards
• Attend at least 5 out of 6 required staff meetings per year
• Identify and respond appropriately to changes in patient status
• Every-other-holiday coverage required
• PTO not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
• Travelers who have been on assignment at this health system for 1 continuous year must take a 6-month break before returning to any location within the system
• BSN preferred but not required
