Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown (HVI) night shift position requiring cardiac/vascular experience and active WV or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work setting is a 32-bed Heart & Vascular Institute Stepdown/Floor unit (all private rooms) within an acute care hospital
- Patient population includes complex cardiac and vascular surgery post-op patients: CABG, LVAD, heart transplants, TAVRs, valve replacements, STEMI/NSTEMI, heart failure, and vascular procedures such as AAA repair, CEA, femoral bypass, and amputations
- Stepdown nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3; floor ratio is 1:6
- Clinical Associates (CNAs) are available on the unit with a goal of 4–5 CAs per shift at a ratio of 1:8–10 patients
- Cardiac Monitor Technicians (CMTs) are housed on the unit and interpret all telemetry strips
- RNs are required to titrate drips, including heparin, amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and dobutamine
- Respiratory equipment available includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Charting is done in Epic
- Schedule is three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Every other weekend is required
- Holiday coverage is required as scheduled
- Floating may be required to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute
- No on-call or standby requirement
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Cardiac and/or vascular nursing experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration
- Candidate's driver's license address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility
Additional Information
- 13-week contract with 12-hour night shifts
- Nurses provide post-operative and acute cardiac/vascular care in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor support
- Dress code is solid royal blue and white scrubs
- Orientation consists of 2–3 shifts
- Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative total of one year must take a 2-year break before returning
- Two references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference
- A skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
- Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
