Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown Cardiac (Advanced Care Unit) position in Ohio, requiring SD/PCU experience with 1:5 ratio background and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Stepdown Cardiac / Advanced Care Unit within a hospital setting
- Typical patient population includes heart failure, chest pain rule-out, NSTEMI, post-procedure patients, COPD exacerbation, and drug/ETOH overdose and withdrawal
- Targeted patient ratios of 1:5–6
- RNs must be competent to run IV drips including heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, insulin, and similar vasoactive/cardiac medications
- IV start skills required
- Daily average census of 31 patients
- Epic EMR experience required
- Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Travelers are first to float at the health system's discretion, within medically appropriate specialty clusters
- Floating may include assignments across main campus (Dayton), south campus (Centerville, under 10 miles away), and north campus (Englewood, under 15 miles away)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience
- SD or PCU experience with 1:5 ratio background required — ICU experience does not substitute for SD/PCU experience at this facility
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting
- IV start proficiency required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Level 1 or 2 trauma center experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to stepdown cardiac patients requiring telemetry monitoring and IV drip management
- Must demonstrate 1:5 ratio SD/PCU experience in work history for consideration — applications without this detail may be delayed or not reviewed
- Must be fitted for an N95 respirator prior to working on the HRRU unit unless a PAPR is offered or required
- RTO must be requested at the time of initial consideration; no RTO additions will be accepted after an offer is made — approval is at the manager's discretion
- Navy blue scrubs required
