Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position in Nashville, TN, requiring strong critical care experience and proficiency with advanced cardiac devices and hemodynamic monitoring.
Details
- 16-bed CVICU within a hospital tower setting in Nashville, TN
- Specializes in post-operative cardiac surgery care, including high-volume and advanced cardiac surgical cases
- Patient ratio is 1:2, with 1:1 ratios for certain device patients
- Equipment includes Philips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, and Alaris IV pumps
- Documentation system: Meditech
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Requires 2 weekends per month
- Holiday coverage required: 1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day) and 2 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day)
- Floating may be required, typically to other ICUs but occasionally to other floors
Requirements
- Active RN license — TN single-state or Compact license required
- Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for CVICU RNs
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or critical care experience required
- Strong critical care experience, including CVICU-specific experience required
- Proficiency with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring required
- Experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide post-operative cardiac surgery care, including management of ECMO, Centrimags, and HeartMate 3 (HM3) LVADs
- Performs procedures including central line insertion, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, and intubation
- Unit is supported by a free-floating charge nurse, unit secretary, and Administrative Care Tech (Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM), as well as Student Nurse Externs on variable shifts
- An intensivist is assigned to the unit 24/7, and 5 full-time surgeons perform high-volume advanced cardiac surgeries
- The unit has received the HCA Unit of Distinction Award and the Daisy Award
- Scrub color requirements: black, red, or galaxy blue; scrub jackets and vests only
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
