Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVPICU or PICU experience in a pediatric hospital setting, with night shift availability and floating flexibility.

- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) setting at a pediatric hospital
- Patient population includes pediatric patients with congenital heart disease, post-cardiac surgery, and complex cardiovascular conditions
- Floating is required and may include NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and med/surg units as needed
- Key procedures and skills include arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, ECMO, VAD (LVAD/RVAD), CRRT, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
- IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, and pediatric dosage calculations are part of clinical practice
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of CVPICU or PICU experience in a pediatric hospital — this is a hard stop requirement
- Experience with cardiovascular nursing skills including congenital heart disease/repair, hemodynamic monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Proficiency in respiratory management including ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and care of intubated patients
- Must be willing and able to float to multiple units including NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and med/surg
- Two supervisory/managerial references required for consideration — at least one must hold a supervisor or manager title (charge nurse references do not qualify)
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have worked permanently for Nationwide must have at least a 2-year gap before being considered
- Floating is a strong expectation of this facility and travelers must be fully prepared to accept assignments in various units
- Preferred skills include ECMO, post cardiac surgery care, ventricular assist device (LVAD/RVAD) management, CRRT, and post cardiac catheterization care
- PICU work setting experience is preferred in addition to CVPICU
