Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an IMC (Intermediate Care) position specializing in cardiology and cardiovascular surgery patients, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active OK or Compact RN license.
Details
- 16-bed IMC unit with an average daily census of 16 patients
- Specializes in cardiology patients but admits any MS or IMC-level patients
- Common patient diagnoses include cardiothoracic surgery (pre/post-op CABG, femoral bypass, thoracotomy, VATS, CEA), cath lab procedures (STEMI/NSTEMI, coronary artery disease), CHF exacerbation, bradycardia, temporary/external pacemakers, dysrhythmias (AFib/AFlutter, SVT, VTach), and hemo/pneumothorax
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, based on a safe staffing matrix dependent on patient acuity
- Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30
- Charting via Epic
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs, including to sister facilities within a 75-mile radius
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active OK or Compact RN license required — no pending licenses accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, EKG Course/Telemetry, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Experience in IMC, MS stepdown, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery required
- Experience with a 1:4 patient ratio required
- Valid driver's license or state-issued ID required
- Utility bill in the traveler's name with a matching address from within the last 3 months required
- 2 supervisory references required
- Copies of all certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidate's permanent address must be greater than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
- RTO is limited to 5 days or fewer per 13-week assignment; no holiday or blackout dates may be requested
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Any gaps of 3 or more months in work history must be explained in the candidate's work history
