Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medicine Specialty Step Down Unit position in Oklahoma City, OK, requiring at least one year of Med/Surg or Step Down experience and an active OK or compact RN license.

- Hospital-based Medicine Specialty Step Down Unit
- Med/Surg and Step Down patient population with health problems ranging from simple to complex
- ICU experience preferred
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required (AHA certifications only accepted)
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Med/Surg and/or Step Down experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Full date of birth (DOB) required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local candidates accepted
- Responsibilities include administering medications, initiating and monitoring IV infusions and blood products, documenting patient responses to nursing interventions, and delegating tasks to support staff
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a new contract (maximum of one extension allowed, for a total of 26 weeks)
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced — candidates should be prepared to begin onboarding immediately upon acceptance

The unit I was on was mostly made up of travel nurses, which they seem the hire some of the laziest people I’ve ever met. There is a reason they offer such a high pay rate because this place is horrible.
