Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at an acute care teaching hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic experience.

Details

• Night shift schedule: 7p–7a (4x12-hour shifts)
• 13-week contract
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care teaching hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with long-term pulmonary conditions, ENT surgery patients, and post-surgical step-down level cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5
• Epic EMR experience required
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required, if needed
• Floating within skillset required

Requirements

• Active NY single-state RN license currently in hand (NY is not a Compact state)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required if available
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Telemetry and step-down level care experience required (PCU/DOU/IMC)
• Skills required: cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, use of Rapid Response/Code teams, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, cardiac drip management (no titration), blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and isolation precautions
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

• Navy blue and white scrubs (any combination) required
• The hospital is a 528-bed Magnet-recognized acute care teaching facility certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• The facility is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park and offers specialized services including cardiology, oncology, neuroscience, and advanced surgical programs
