Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (PCU) position at a 240-bed community hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent specialty experience and both MO (or compact) and KS RN licenses in hand.
Details
- Night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15) at a 240-bed community hospital with a 16-bed ICU
- MS/Tele (PCU) unit serving patients with cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, heart failure, chest pain, vascular/PVD, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, ETOH withdrawal, SI, and pre/post cath care
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
- Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting is performed in Epic
- Telemetry monitoring equipment used on the unit
- Free parking available
- Navy scrubs required
Requirements
- Active RN license — both Missouri (or compact) and Kansas licenses must be in hand prior to consideration, as floating between facilities may require both
- Minimum 2 years of recent MS/Tele specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
- Community hospital experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, CPI
- Prior charge RN experience preferred
- Proficiency with cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and Rapid Response Team protocols
- Experience with cardiovascular care: post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
- Skills in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, peripheral line care, and starting IVs
- Respiratory skills: chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management
- Experience with heparin protocols, PCA management, CVA care, feeding tube care, and wound care/wound vac
- Preferred skills: sheath removal, port access, phlebotomy, and total joint replacement care
- 2 professional references required — one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position
- Travel partners are not accepted
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
- Holiday shift coverage is required as needed per unit
- Online compliance modules are required and are generally completed prior to the start date and annually thereafter
