Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step Down Unit night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of bedside experience and proficiency with vents, vasopressors, and insulin drips.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with 233 staffed beds
- Step Down Unit (SDU) with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Required to work 2 shifts every other weekend, with rotation on Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday
- Specialized procedures include titration of vasopressors and sedation medications, insulin drips, trach/vent management, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
- Charting performed in Epic; experience with Epic is required
- May float to lower-acuity floors as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
- Free parking on site
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license required; IL candidates may apply with a pending IL license
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of Step Down or comparable bedside nursing experience
- Must have been working at the bedside within the last 6 months
- Proficiency with ventilator management, vasopressor titration, sedation drips, insulin drips, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Navy scrubs required
- Candidates who have been permanent employees of a BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work at a BJC facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- RTO is permitted (up to 7 days per 13-week contract); no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Onboarding includes required modules to be completed prior to or during orientation
