Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiovascular Technologist for a Cath Lab position at a Level III Trauma Center in Puyallup, WA, requiring BLS, ACLS, and ARRT or RCIS certification with Cath Lab-specific experience.

Details

  • Work in a hospital-based Cath Lab with 2 procedure rooms at a Level III Trauma Center in Puyallup, WA
  • Procedures include diagnostic/interventional cath, LHC/RHC, NSTEMI and STEMI management, Impella, IABPs, Rotablator, CTOs/staged PCI, shockwave therapy, temp pacers, peripheral (legs) diagnostic/intervention, and loop recorders
  • EP procedures include Micra, pacemaker implants, AICDs, lead extractions/revisions, and generator changes
  • Average of 8 cases performed per day
  • 10-hour rotating shifts, either 6:00 AM–4:30 PM or 7:00 AM–5:30 PM depending on call assignment
  • Rotating day off each week
  • Weekday call coverage required once per week (Mon–Thu), from end of shift until 7:00 AM the following morning
  • Weekend call coverage every 6th weekend, from end of shift Friday through Monday at 7:00 AM
  • One holiday per contract on a call-only basis
  • Possibility of floating to a sister Cath Lab approximately 15 minutes away, up to once per week with advance notice
  • EMR: Epic
  • Hemodynamic monitoring system: Merge (experience preferred)
  • PACS: Picom | IV pumps: Alaris | Medication dispensing: Pyxis | C-arm: GE Alea

Requirements

  • Current BLS and ACLS required
  • ARRT or RCIS certification required
  • WA state license required if applicable
  • Cath Lab-specific experience required — travelers with 1 year of Cath Lab experience will be considered if they have prior travel experience; first-time travelers must have 2+ years of Cath Lab experience
  • Ability to scrub and operate the table simultaneously
  • Monitoring experience preferred
  • Merge hemodynamic system experience preferred
  • Two professional references required (supervisor level or above, such as Charge Nurse, Manager, or Director) — one reference may be submitted for initial consideration, with a second required prior to start

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are accepted with 2+ years of Cath Lab experience
  • Orientation begins with a facility-wide new employee orientation (NEO) on day one, followed by department training for the remainder of the first week
  • Travelers may opt into buddy call during the first week but will take call independently starting in the second week
  • Call team consists of 3 members: 2 techs and 1 RN; 30-minute response time required; no dedicated sleep room, though the Admit/Recovery unit may be used if necessary
  • Unit support includes a Charge Nurse/Lead Tech, Scheduler, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), Intensivists, on-call Cardiologist, RRT and Code Team, and a Transporter (techs may assist with transporting their own telemetry patients)
  • Scrubs and lead aprons are provided; extended sizing available for scrubs only
  • Free garage parking available on-site
  • COVID vaccination required
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and strong teamwork skills are expected
