Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level IV Neonatal ICU position at an academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and an active NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Level IV NICU in a large academic medical center and Level 1 Trauma hospital with 885 licensed adult beds and 196 pediatric beds
- Cares for infants from 23 weeks gestation through term, including high-acuity and surgical cases such as NEC and CDH
- Average daily census of 71 patients
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
- Schedule cycles every 6 weeks
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend at minimum
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating may be required to General Pediatrics, PICU, Adolescent Pediatrics, and Pediatric Hem/Onc
- EMR: Epic
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in basic ventilator management, central line management, and blood transfusion
- Experience with pre/post-surgical management, tracheostomy care, and G-tube management
- Competency in infant feeding techniques including breastfeeding support, bottle feeding, and gavage feeding
- Infant venous stick skills required
- Must provide the last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Fast-paced unit supporting neonates with varying acuity levels, including complex surgical patients
- Unit support includes nursing assistants at a 1:20 ratio and 2 charge RNs per shift
- Orientation includes NEO training plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Time off requests require Resource Team approval
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Free parking available on-site
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
