Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level IV Neonatal ICU position at an academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Level IV NICU in a large academic medical center and Level 1 Trauma hospital with 885 licensed adult beds and 196 pediatric beds
  • Cares for infants from 23 weeks gestation through term, including high-acuity and surgical cases such as NEC and CDH
  • Average daily census of 71 patients
  • 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
  • Schedule cycles every 6 weeks
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend at minimum
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating may be required to General Pediatrics, PICU, Adolescent Pediatrics, and Pediatric Hem/Onc
  • EMR: Epic

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in basic ventilator management, central line management, and blood transfusion
  • Experience with pre/post-surgical management, tracheostomy care, and G-tube management
  • Competency in infant feeding techniques including breastfeeding support, bottle feeding, and gavage feeding
  • Infant venous stick skills required
  • Must provide the last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Fast-paced unit supporting neonates with varying acuity levels, including complex surgical patients
  • Unit support includes nursing assistants at a 1:20 ratio and 2 charge RNs per shift
  • Orientation includes NEO training plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • Time off requests require Resource Team approval
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
