Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level IV NICU position at an academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and NRP certification.

Details

  • Level IV NICU in a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma hospital with 885 licensed adult beds and 196 pediatric beds
  • Patient population includes infants from 23 weeks gestation through term, with varying acuity levels including surgical cases such as NEC and CDH
  • Average daily census of 71 patients
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a (1830–0700), 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend at minimum
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating may be required to General Pediatrics, PICU, Adolescent Pediatrics, and Pediatric Hem/Onc
  • EMR: Epic

Requirements

  • Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Level III or higher NICU experience required
  • Proficiency in basic ventilator management, central line management, and tracheostomy management
  • Experience with pre/post-surgical patient management
  • Skills in G-tube management, gavage feeding, bottle feeding, and basic breastfeeding support
  • Blood transfusion and infant venous stick experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • RTO requests require Resource Team approval
  • Unit is supported by nursing assistants at a 1:20 ratio and 2 Charge RNs per shift
  • Orientation includes NEO onboarding and 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Schedule cycles run every 6 weeks
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being eligible
