Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level IV Neonatal ICU position at an academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and proficiency in complex neonatal care.
Details
- Level IV NICU in a large academic medical center with a Level 1 Trauma designation
- Average daily census of 71 patients in the Intensive Care Nursery
- Patient population includes infants from 23 weeks gestation through term, with varying acuity levels, including surgical cases (NEC, CDH, etc.)
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
- Floating may be required to General Pediatrics, PICU, Adolescent Pediatrics, and Pediatric Hem/Onc
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend at minimum
- No on-call requirements
- EMR: Epic
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Level 3 (or higher) NICU experience required
- Proficiency in basic ventilator management, central line management, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with pre/post-surgical patient management
- Skills in G-tube management, gavage feeding, bottle feeding, and basic breastfeeding support
- Experience performing blood transfusions and infant venous sticks
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position to be eligible
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- RTO requests require Resource Team approval
- Orientation includes NEO training plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Unit support includes nursing assistants (1:20 ratio) and 2 Charge RNs per shift
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
