Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level IV NICU at an academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and NRP certification.
Details
- 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700) in a fast-paced Level IV NICU at a large academic medical center
- Average daily census of 71 patients in the NICU
- Cares for infants ranging from 23 weeks gestational age through term, with varying acuity levels, including surgical cases (e.g., NEC, CDH)
- EMR: Epic
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend at minimum
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities
- Floating may be required to General Pediatrics, PICU, Adolescent Pediatrics, and Pediatric Hem/Onc
- Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Proficiency in basic ventilator management, central line management, and pre/post-surgical care
- Experience with tracheostomy management, G-tube management, and gavage feeding
- Blood transfusion and infant venous stick skills required
- Basic breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and gavage feeding skills required
- At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Large academic medical center with Level I Trauma designation, 885 licensed adult beds and 196 pediatric beds
- Unit support includes nursing assistants (1:20 ratio) and 2 Charge RNs per shift
- Orientation includes NEO onboarding plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- Time off requests require Resource Team approval
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Former employees must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
