Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Stepdown position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Oregon, requiring 2 years of PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience and an active OR RN license.
Details
- Neuro Stepdown unit in a short-term acute care hospital setting designated as a Magnet facility, academic teaching hospital, and Level I Trauma Center
- Patient population includes Ischemic Stroke, Hemorrhagic Stroke, Status Epilepticus, Post-Craniotomy/Neurosurgery, and Post-Thrombolytic Care cases
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30), 36 hours per week
- Variable weekend requirements
- Floating required within the Acute Care division, including possible float to an affiliate hospital nearby — refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
- No on-call requirements
- Equipment used includes Hamilton C1 Ventilators, External Ventricular Devices (EVDs), and Lumbar Drains
- Epic EMR used; experience preferred but not required
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
Requirements
- Active Oregon (OR) RN license required; pending licensure accepted if application has been submitted and received by the licensing board to qualify for the 90-day license exemption
- Minimum 2 years of PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown RN experience required
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- 6 hours of stroke continuing education (CEs) required
- Proficiency in titrating vasoactive drips and care of ventilated patients required
- Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (Charge RN references are not acceptable)
- COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions
Additional Information
- New unit opening mid-June
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Scrub color: any solid color — no prints
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days for a 13-week contract or 7 days for an 18-week contract; any approved time off exceeding 5 days requires extending the contract end date to complete a full 13-week assignment
- All time off requests must be submitted prior to or at the time of consideration
- Candidates who are former employees or previous travelers at this health system must have been gone at least 6 months before returning; a reference from the OHSU manager who supervised them is required
- Parking costs $16/day (required 8am–5pm only); public transportation is strongly encouraged
