Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric RN for a 13-week night shift contract at an acute care hospital in Decatur, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of pediatric experience and active IL licensure.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with a Level II Trauma designation, 372 staffed beds
• 11-room, 16-bed Pediatrics unit
• Pediatric Med/Surg and Pediatric Step Down/Telemetry patient population
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:00–06:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope is required, including to affiliate hospitals nearby
• No on-call responsibilities
• Charting in Cerner (experience required)
• Schedule change requests may be discussed with the manager

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; active application with ETA also accepted
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience required
• Experience in Pediatric Med/Surg and/or Pediatric Step Down/Telemetry settings required
• Endocrine/metabolic skills: hyperbilirubinemia management and insulin administration
• GI/feeding skills: breastfeeding support, handling of breast milk, bottle/breast/gavage feedings, and placement of oral/nasogastric tubes
• IV therapy skills: peripheral line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs
• Medication skills: pediatric dosage calculations
• Respiratory skills: oral/nasal suctioning and oxygen delivery systems
• Professional skills: infection prevention, isolation precautions, and wound assessment/care
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO of up to 5 days is preferred; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
• All time off and scheduling requests should be submitted upfront
• Scrubs: any solid color
