Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU VAD Coordinator role requiring at least 2 years of experience, VAD equipment expertise, and Epic proficiency in an outpatient-predominant clinical setting.
Details
- Position is based in a CVICU unit with approximately 80% outpatient work, including clinic visits and procedure areas
- Patient population consists primarily of destination therapy VAD patients, with a current caseload of approximately 210 patients
- Durable VAD devices supported include HeartMate 3, HeartMate 2, and BrioVAD
- Schedule is Monday through Friday, days only, with shift options of 7:00am–5:30pm or 7:00am–3:30pm (4x10-hour or a mix of 10-hour and 8-hour shifts for 36–40 hours per week)
- Epic EMR is used and experience is required
Requirements
- Active Michigan (MI) RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- VAD Coordinator (VAD-C) certification preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Demonstrated expertise with VAD equipment, alarms, and troubleshooting required
- Experience with device downloads and escalation protocols required
- Ability to serve as an expert resource for staff, patients, and caregivers on VAD devices
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include patient and caregiver education on VAD devices, routine and urgent telehealth care, emergency phone triage, clinic visits, and equipment management
- Serves as the expert resource for VAD alarm troubleshooting in hospital, OR, and procedural settings
- Responsible for checking equipment integrity and performing exchanges as needed in a clinic setting
- Independently triages issues received through the call center, emergency line, and patient portal
- Candidates who have been employed by this health system within the last 12 months are not eligible to apply
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration
- A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
- Any time-off or scheduling requests must be disclosed at the time of submission
