Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2-3 years of high-acuity L&D experience and a comprehensive set of obstetric certifications.

Details

  • Hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with antepartum, LDRP, and mother/baby care responsibilities
  • Patient ratio of 1:2 couplets
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per month required (Saturday and Sunday only)
  • Occasional floating to Postpartum unit when within scope
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active AZ RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-acuity L&D setting; 2 years may be considered if experience was gained at a teaching or high-risk facility
  • Proficiency in sterile speculum and vaginal exams, including assessment of effacement, dilation, station, and presentation
  • Experience with external and internal fetal monitoring (EFM), IUPC placement and calibration, and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Skills in NST, reflex checks, edema and clonus assessment, amnioinfusion, and hemorrhage/shock management
  • Experience with IV placement and maintenance, infusion pumps/drips, blood and blood product administration, and venous blood draws
  • Ability to assist with and recover C-sections, assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, and circulate for C-sections, including forceps/vacuum extraction
  • Competency in postpartum care for vaginal delivery, cesarean section, couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Neonatal care skills including newborn assessment, cord care, newborn hypoglycemia management, and neonatal care in the delivery room
  • Experience with epidural and general anesthesia and pain assessment and management
  • Proficiency in isolation precautions, PPE, vaccine administration, and patient discharge teaching

Additional Information

  • Preferred certifications include AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, C-EFM, and RNC-OB
  • Preferred experience includes high-risk antepartum care, Level III L&D, facilities with 300+ births/month, triage of obstetrical patients, spiral electrode placement, and procedures such as cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
  • Preferred neonatal skills include neonatal abstinence syndrome management, phototherapy, metabolic screening, car seat education, and transition of the newborn
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • First-time travelers may be considered with a minimum of 5 years of L&D experience
  • RTO blackout dates apply around Memorial Day weekend (5/22–25), Independence Day (7/3–6), and Labor Day weekend (9/4–7)
