Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cath Lab/EP RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring active ND or compact RN licensure and hands-on cardiac catheterization experience.
Details
- Cardiac Cath Lab unit within an acute care, Level II Trauma Center
- Facility operates 3 cath lab suites averaging approximately 4 cases per day
- Patient population includes emergent revascularization, left/right heart catheterization (LHC/RHC), ATK peripheral diagnostic/interventional, cardioversion, TEE, device implants, pericardiocentesis, and temporary pacemaker procedures
- EMR: Epic (experience required); hemodynamic monitoring via Philips Xper; imaging equipment includes Siemens C-Arm
- Additional equipment in use: IABP, Impella, Shockwave, Laser, IFR/FFR, IVUS, and Rotapro
- Day shift position; schedule varies between 2x10-hour and 2x8-hour shifts, or 3x8-hour and 1x12-hour shifts; shift times are 0700–1530 and 0600–1630
- Call required 1–2 weeknights per week; every third weekend on call (Friday through Monday morning); every other holiday on call
- 20-minute call response time required
- Floating required to Heart and Vascular Pre/Post areas
- Scheduling posted 17 days in advance for 6-week blocks; schedule determined by team lead
Requirements
- Active ND RN license or compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Cath lab experience required, including comfort with mixing and administering moderate sedation medications
- Experience with cardiac and peripheral interventional procedures strongly preferred
- Radiation badge must be supplied and in hand prior to start date
- A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include moderate sedation administration (medications mixed on-site), charting, circulating, and working in pre/post areas — particularly during longer shifts
- Teams consist of 4 members: 2 RNs, 1 rad tech, and 1 RCIS or rad tech
- A charge/team lead is present each shift to manage daily operations but may also assist in the labs
- Cardiology MD is available 24/7 (on-call after hours); intensivist MD is in-house 24/7
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 days in the lab
- Scrubs are provided by the facility; dedicated work shoes (hospital-designated) are required
- Lead aprons are provided for travelers who do not have their own; bring your own lock for the locker room
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates may not be currently or have been within the past year employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity — candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront for a 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
