Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center in Bangor, ME.

Details

  • 411-bed Level II Trauma Center hospital in Bangor, ME
  • Respiratory Therapy department serving 3 Adult ICUs, a Cardiac Critical Care Unit, a Level II Trauma Center ED, an Intermediate Care Unit, and General Medical Floors; a Level III NICU & PICU is also on-site
  • Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, Cystic Fibrosis, ARDS, MVA Trauma/Surgery, Pneumonia, Lung Cancer, Stroke, ALS, GBS, COVID-19, and RSV
  • Equipment includes Servo U, Servo I, Hamilton T1, Trilogy, V60, V30, EV300, and Vero Biotech Nitric Delivery systems
  • Charting via Cerner
  • Night shift: 1845–0715; most needs are on nights
  • 48 hours per week
  • 13-week contract
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Voluntary call only, available 2 hours before and 2 hours after shift
  • Float to other trained units only

Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; candidates with CRT and extensive experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • BLS required
  • Current compact or ME RRT license required if applicable
  • Critical care experience including airway and ventilator management, ABG puncture and analysis, non-invasive ventilation, code blue and rapid response, and inhaled medication administration
  • Pediatric experience preferred but not required for this posting
  • 2 professional references within the past year required; at least one must be from a Supervisor, Manager, or Director (Charge Nurse acceptable; peer references not accepted)
  • Copies of all certifications required for consideration
  • Full SSN, Driver's License, and flu vaccination required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility to be eligible; candidates living 100+ miles north may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Candidates must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
  • Orientation consists of 1 general orientation shift with an RT Educator, followed by 1 shift per unit trained to (generally 4–5 shifts total)
  • Department is very critical care-focused and protocol-driven
  • Supported by a Lead/Charge RT, Manager, Assistant Manager, RT Educator, and Medical Director
  • Flu vaccination is required for clearance to start; medical exemptions only are accepted and require a minimum of 2 weeks for facility review
  • All RTO must be submitted for manager approval
  • Holiday coverage assigned as scheduled unless RTO is confirmed in advance
  • Any professional scrub color or pattern is acceptable; access to OR scrub machines is also available
  • Free on-site parking available
