Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position at a 241-bed Level 3 Trauma hospital in North Carolina, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and the ability to work in an LDRP setting.
Details
- Work setting is a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU
- Patient population includes labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care with an average of 4–6 patients per day
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for inactive labor, and 1:3–4 for couplets; 1 CST per shift
- EMR is Epic; experience preferred
- IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell
- Unit equipment includes fetal monitors, Philips newborn monitors, scales, ultrasound, and ambulation assist devices
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within Region 3 facilities (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per regional needs and within scope of practice — candidates unwilling to float should not apply
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Ability and willingness to work in an LDRP setting required
- Proficiency in L&D skills including labor management, circulating cesarean sections, pre-op and PACU care, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin management, and epidural management
- Must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following permanent employment before being eligible
- Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time must be added to the end of the contract
- Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle with both day (7a–7p) and night (7p–7a) shift availability
- Department support includes a 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws, respiratory therapy available 24/7 within the hospital, and a hospitalist available 24/7 for newborn care
- Hospital-issued green scrubs required
