Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with 3+ years of acute care experience, including ED and adult critical care, for a 13-week night shift contract at a hospital-based respiratory therapy department in New York.

Details

• Work in a hospital-based Respiratory Therapy department in an acute care setting
• Patient population spans all ages, including ED, adult critical care, and Level 3 NICU patients
• Shift hours are 7:00 PM–7:30 AM (12-hour night shifts), three shifts per week
• Every other weekend work required
• Three 12-hour holiday shifts required per season; the night before and the night of a holiday each count as a holiday shift
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Associate's degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy or Respiratory Care
• Active NBRC credential required
• Active NYS Respiratory Therapist license required
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association)
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care hospital setting, including ED and adult critical care
• 1+ year of experience in a Level 3 NICU preferred
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Assess, treat, and care for patients of all ages with pulmonary and breathing disorders
• Perform diagnostic testing and relevant respiratory exams
• Set up and operate cardiopulmonary equipment and monitoring machines
• Responsible for airway management, including endotracheal intubations and extubations, pulmonary hygiene, tracheostomy care, and emergency life support procedures
• Administer and document prescribed medications, treatments, and diagnostic procedures
• Provide health education to patients and the community
