Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Telemetry IMCU position in El Paso, TX, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry experience and ACLS/BLS certifications on a 13-week night shift contract.
Details
- Located on the 3rd floor of a hospital in El Paso, TX
- Telemetry Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) with 24 beds
- Patient population includes post-cardiac cath lab/PACU patients (left/right heart caths, pacemakers, Watchman procedures, ablations), stroke patients, and COVID patients
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 2 weekends required per pay period
- No on-call requirements
- Uses GE remote telemetry equipment
- EMR: Meditech
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent telemetry RN experience
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation required
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- Unit team includes charge nurses and PCT leads on each shift, providing strong support structure
- Shift huddle attendance at the start of each shift (6:45 AM or 6:45 PM) is expected and punctuality is required
- Bedside shift report (BSSR) and updating patient communication boards are standard expectations
- RTO requests are considered with early communication; scheduling is done via self-scheduling through Facility Scheduler
- Galaxy blue scrubs required for nurses; hooded sweaters, full pull-over sweaters, fanny packs, and Crocs are not permitted
- Charge nurse experience, critical care experience, and monitor tech experience are preferred but not required
- The unit has a collaborative, team-oriented culture with a mix of experienced staff and newer nurses
