Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week travel contract in an Orthopedic/Trauma Unit, working nights with a minimum of one year of nursing experience required.
Details
- Orthopedic/Trauma Unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes orthopedic and trauma cases ranging from simple to complex acuity
- Night shift, 12-hour days, 3 days per week (36 hrs/week)
- Every other weekend required
- Rotating holiday coverage required
- Med/Surg and step-down experience expected for this unit
Requirements
- Active OK RN license or valid multistate compact (eNLC) RN license
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required — all certifications must be AHA-issued
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Basic computer skills required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing an assigned patient group, administering medications, initiating and monitoring IV infusions and blood products, and documenting patient responses to nursing interventions
- Collaborates with physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Provides patient and family education regarding care plans and hospital procedures, including discharge planning
- Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible to apply for a new contract (prior contracts are limited to one extension, totaling no more than 26 weeks)
- Compliance requirements are strictly enforced — candidates must be prepared to begin onboarding immediately upon acceptance of an offer

The unit I was on was mostly made up of travel nurses, which they seem the hire some of the laziest people I’ve ever met. There is a reason they offer such a high pay rate because this place is horrible.
