Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position in a Women's Health & OB Services unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of LDRP experience and active NRP and fetal monitoring certifications.
Details
- Work in a Women's Health and OB Services unit within a 131-bed hospital designated as a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
- Unit includes 12 LDRP rooms, 2 triage rooms, 2 ORs, and a 10-bed Level II NICU
- Primarily lower-risk patient population (32 weeks and above) with an average census of 60–80 births per month
- Common diagnoses and cases include hypertension, magnesium administration, substance abuse medication management, epidurals, elevated BMI, and diabetes
- Nurses provide continuous care post-delivery in the same room, including post-partum through discharge for both mother and baby
- Patient ratios: 1:1 laboring, 1:2 active labor, 1:3 couplets
- EMR: Epic (preferred)
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and QS Centricity fetal monitors
- 12-hour night shifts (1845–0715), 36 hours per week
- Day shift option also available (0645–1915)
- Weekend rotation every 4th weekend
- Holiday rotation required (every other)
- No floating required
- No on-call responsibilities
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, NRP, and intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring certification required
- Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in cervical exams, amnioinfusions, epidural assistance, fetal monitoring, IV starts and management, Pitocin administration, and newborn receiving (APGAR, baby catching)
- Comfortable with all aspects of postpartum care from transition to discharge for both mother and baby
- Experience with post-women's surgeries preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration
- Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Unit is supported by 2 techs, a charge nurse who takes patients, phlebotomy, L&D anesthesia on call, NNP 24/7, OBGYNs on call, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, and a lactation consultant available during the day who meets with every patient prior to discharge
- Management is available during daytime hours
- Orientation includes a facility NEO followed by 1–2 days of unit orientation depending on comfort level
- Schedule is managed by the lead RN on a 6-week cycle; travelers receive their schedule 2 weeks in advance
- RTO requests of up to 7 days may be approved
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking is available on-site
- Local candidates are accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
