Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level 3/4 ICN position requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and ventilator proficiency, with night shift scheduling in a high-acuity neonatal setting.
Details
- Level 3/4 Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) in a hospital setting
- High-acuity neonatal patient population including premature infants as young as 22 weeks, surgical infants, and hypoxic injury cases
- Special procedures include Therapeutic Hypothermia, Nitric Oxide, UAC/UVC, PCL, Broviac, Tracheostomy, GTT, and Ostomy care
- Equipment used includes Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion for feedings, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, and Giraffe warmers
- EMR: Epic (Pyxis also in use)
- Patient ratio of 1:2–4
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 36 hours per week
- Self-scheduling based on unit needs
- Weekend requirement: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period
- No on-call requirements
- Float requirement to Peds, PICU, or Nursery for infants up to 12 months of age
- 13-week contracts accepted
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required; license pending at time of application is acceptable
- Current certifications required: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Level 3 or Level 4 ICN
- Proficiency with mechanical ventilators required
- Two manager or supervisor professional references from within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending references at time of application are acceptable)
- Previous permanent, PRN, or employee pool (EP) staff of Novant Health or New Hanover must have a 12-month gap before being eligible to apply as a traveler
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible at a different rate
- 24 hours of unit orientation provided; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
- 8–10 hours of online modules must be completed prior to start and annually; modules are delivered via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval
- No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Travel pairs are welcome; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
- Scrubs: Navy blue or white
