Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Med Surg position requiring at least 3 years of experience, stepdown-specific skills, and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting in a 20-bed Stepdown/Med Surg unit
• Patient population includes respiratory issues, weakness, UTI, AKI, and chest pain
• Stepdown nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3; floor ratio of 1:5-6
• Two nurse aides per shift support the unit
• Telemetry monitoring is performed remotely
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
• RT equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen
• EMR: Epic
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (0.9 FTE, 3 nights per week)
• 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Holiday rotation required (evening or day)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No floating requirement

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown experience required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Royal blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation provided
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year without a 2-year break
• All interview questions are completed via a form sent directly to the candidate by the facility's clinical team; candidates may be advanced to a manager interview based on their responses
