Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position at a Level II Trauma Center, with CRRT experience required and specialized skills in cardiac and neurosurgical patient care.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center with 431 staffed beds
- SICU unit caring for a specialized population including trauma, cardiovascular surgery (TAVR, CABG), neurosurgery, and complex surgical patients
- Patient diagnoses include acute ventilatory failure, DKA, severe sepsis, unstable GI bleed, open heart and TAVR recovery, post-code blue, multi-system organ failure, and CRRT-dependent patients
- Standard SICU nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3; if floating to step-down, ratios may be 1:3–4, with ratios appropriate to skill level and acuity
- May be assigned to non-ICU units as operational needs require, with standard unit ratios ranging from 1:4–1:6
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Charting via Epic
- Scrubs: Navy blue
- Local candidates are accepted
- Travel pairs are not permitted on this unit
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required
- Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- CRRT (Prismax) experience is mandatory
- At least one additional advanced skill required: IABP, Impella, or EVD Drain management
- Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, arterial line management, and blood product administration
Additional Information
- Provide specialized critical care nursing to trauma, cardiovascular surgery, and neurosurgery patients with complex, high-acuity needs
- No holiday RTO will be approved
- All RTO requests are otherwise subject to manager discretion
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Block scheduling is not available for this assignment
