Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg ICU (Critical Care) night shift position requiring a MO or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience.
Details
- Med Surg ICU in an acute care hospital setting, which serves as the only Level III Trauma Center and a Level II Stroke and STEMI Center in the region
- Patient population includes medical, basic cardiac, and neuro cases
- 19-bed unit with an average patient ratio of 2-3:1
- Specialized procedures include post-stroke care, titrating cardiac drips (Nitro, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Esmolol), BiPAP, Airvo use, and ventilated compressors
- EMR: Epic
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3x12)
- 36 hours per week with weekend coverage as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to Med Surg and Telemetry units is required
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or current Missouri temporary work permit (compact license accepted); must be active at time of consideration with no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of assignment
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider preferred; ACLS must be completed within 12 months if not current)
- Minimum 2 years of critical care/ICU experience required
- Experience with post-stroke care, titrating cardiac drips, BiPAP, Airvo, ventilated compressors, and the ability to recognize a deteriorating patient
- No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs are not accepted)
Additional Information
- Medical calculation testing may be required (preferred skillset)
- Black scrubs are required; hoodies and non-professional scrub attire are not permitted
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after that, a minimum 1-year separation from the facility or transition to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Ideal candidates are self-starters with a strong focus on teamwork
