Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least one year of travel nursing experience and the ability to interpret dysrhythmias.

Details

• Work in a 30-bed mixed surgical unit (Unit 5E) that can flex to 37 beds
• Patient population includes general surgery, trauma, and minor orthopedic cases, with a focus on post-op and post-trauma patients
• Average length of stay is approximately 4 days; day shift nurses can expect 1–2 patient turnovers per shift
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6
• Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, BiPAP, CPAP, trachs, chest tubes, tube feeds via Kangaroo pumps, and telemetry monitoring
• Dysrhythmia interpretation is required; CAPD experience is preferred
• Epic EMR experience is preferred
• Schedule is 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week, with every other weekend required and one major holiday per year
• Weekend blocked schedule may be available
• Floating to other Med/Surg units is required as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license — Virginia state or compact license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required
• Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Proof of address and a supervisory reference required for consideration
• Candidate's full SSN and date of birth (MM/DD) required for consideration
• Must pass an EKG exam at orientation (2 attempts allowed; study guide provided)

Additional Information

• Support staff on unit includes monitor techs, phlebotomy, 1–2 CNAs per shift, sitters, charge nurses, and a rapid response team
• CAPD experience is preferred
• Candidate must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to the travel experience requirement
