Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab experience and an active WV or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care cardiac catheterization lab setting with 7 suites, including 2 cath labs and holding rooms
- Adult cardiac patient population — procedures include peripheral and cardiac cath, PCI, and device implantation (ICD, pacers); no EP or ablations
- Average caseload of 4–5 cases per day, ranging from 2 to 9
- Cath lab team consists of 3 members: 2 RNs and 1 CV Rad Tech
- EMR: Epic (Cupid module); imaging system is Xper (Dynamics)
- Telemetry monitoring via Philips hardwired at bedside
- Medications managed via Omnicell; certain meds are mixed in the lab per orientation protocol
- Monday–Friday day shift, four 10-hour shifts (0700–1530)
- On-call rotation covering Monday–Friday 1530–0700, weekends, and holidays — averaging 10–11 call days per month
- Holidays are covered through on-call (0700–0700)
- May float to Non-Invasive CV unit to start IVs
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS (both AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience required
- Experience with IABP and IVUS required
- Experience with Acist injector preferred but not required
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Navy blue scrubs are provided by the facility
- Orientation consists of 2 shifts with a preceptor, followed by a buddy call experience
- Cardiology is on-call 24/7 to support the team
- Resource nurse manages daily flow and assignments and assists with cases as needed
- COVID vaccination is required; medical or religious exemptions may be requested and are subject to facility approval
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Previous permanent employees or travelers who have worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered
- Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative total of one year must take a 2-year break before returning
