Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) travel position requiring a MO or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent specialty experience.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an academic teaching hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, any combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- 13-week contract
- Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
- No on-call requirements
- No block scheduling available
Requirements
- Active MO or Compact RN license required; Kansas RN license also required due to floating between facilities
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Prior charge RN and teaching hospital experience preferred
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry (unit and remote), and use of Rapid Response Teams
- Experience with cardiovascular care: post-cardiac, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery
- IV therapy skills required: blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
- Medication management skills: heparin protocols, cardiac drips (with and without titration), PCA, and procedural sedation
- Respiratory care experience: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy management
- Additional clinical skills: CVA care, total joint replacements, peripheral nerve block catheters, feeding tube management, wound care/wound vac, surgical drains, and isolation precautions
- 2 professional references required for consideration: at least one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
- RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of consideration
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
- Orientation modules are required and average 10–15 hours; must be completed prior to the start date
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed
