Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- 13-week travel contract in the NICU of a 152-bed Level II children's hospital featuring a Level IV NICU (2nd highest designation in the state)
- 70-bed NICU unit with a typical census of around 50 patients
- Patient population includes premature infants as early as 22 weeks gestation, RDS, high-risk deliveries, feeders/growers, and NAS; preferred experience with surgical patients and HIE (Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy)
- Key clinical skills include respiratory support with ventilators (required), NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, NG/OG tubes, G-tubes, tracheostomies (highly preferred), medication administration, care planning, and discharge-to-home coordination
- EMR: Epic experience required
- 12-hour night shifts (1900–0730 or 0700–1930)
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required; occasional back-to-back weekends possible but rare
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating may occasionally occur to the ER in a sitter capacity, though this is rare
- Block scheduling is possible
Requirements
- Active WA state RN license or compact RN license currently in hand or pending (proof of application required)
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency with ventilator respiratory support required; tracheostomy experience highly preferred
- At least one supervisor-level reference required for initial consideration; a second supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required prior to start
Additional Information
- NICU is located within a Pediatric Hospital attached to an adult hospital with high-risk labor and delivery on site
- NICU features private patient rooms; Level II Nursery overflow for feeders/growers
- First-time travelers will be considered, though travel experience is strongly preferred
- Any scrub color is acceptable
- Clinical interviews are conducted via SimpliFi
