Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Trauma Med/Surg unit in Nashville, TN, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active TN or compact RN license.
Details
- Position is located on the 7th floor Trauma Med/Surg unit (Cost Center 613) of an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke-certified hospital in Nashville, TN
- 34-bed unit with a 6:1 patient ratio
- Patient care involves trauma and medical/surgical cases including surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, chest tubes, wound care, and IV therapy
- Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, SCD machines, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
- Documentation is completed in Meditech
- Schedule is three 12-hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), with 2 weekends (4 shifts) required per 4-week schedule
- Contract travelers are first to float, with rotation applied when multiple contract staff are scheduled
Requirements
- Active RN license — TN state license or a compact RN license accepted
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
- Proficiency in starting IVs, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
- Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced trauma environment
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Nurses are expected to deliver attentive, compassionate care and conduct bedside shift report while actively involving patients and family members in the plan of care
- Tech support is available on both day and night shifts; a unit secretary is present 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Navy scrub tops and bottoms are required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
- The facility is part of the HCA Healthcare system; prior permanent employment history with HCA may affect eligibility
