Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (Telemetry) position in Wichita, KS, requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute care telemetry experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications.
Details
- Located in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) on the 3rd floor of a main hospital building in Wichita, KS
- 37-bed unit staffed with 8 RNs, 3 Patient Care Techs, and 1 Unit Clerk per day shift; 8 RNs and 3 Patient Care Techs per night shift
- Patient ratios are 1:6, or 1:4 for Heart Cath patients
- Patient population includes telemetry and Heart Cath recovery patients requiring close monitoring
- Procedures performed include central lines, medication drips, Heart Cath recovery, and bubble studies
- Equipment used includes PCA pumps, IV pumps, and chest tubes
- EMR: Meditech (prior experience preferred)
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — KS or compact license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital telemetry experience
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
- Preferred candidates will have prior Meditech EMR experience
- Ideal candidates demonstrate a positive attitude, independence, and strong critical thinking skills
- First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but the position requires a minimum of 1 year of recent telemetry experience
