Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level III trauma acute care hospital, requiring advanced fetal monitoring certification and C-section circulating experience.

Details

• Combined L&D and Postpartum (PP) unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Unit includes 14 L&D beds, 6 triage beds, 2 OR suites, and 28 postpartum beds — averaging approximately 250 births per month
• Patient population includes any gestational age, antepartum, high-risk deliveries, substance abuse, pre-eclampsia, and insulin-dependent diabetics
• L&D nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 for laboring patients (per AWHONN guidelines); couplet care ratio is 1:4
• L&D nurses are required to circulate for C-sections; scrubbing experience is preferred
• Fetal monitoring system: Fetal Link; telemetry system: Philips
• EMR: Cerner
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a
• Every other weekend required
• L&D nurses are required to float to postpartum; postpartum nurses do not float to L&D
• No on-call requirement, though standby may occasionally be required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications (all must be active — pending not accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• COVID vaccination required
• Cerner EMR experience
• C-section circulating experience required; scrubbing experience preferred
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or per diem) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• OB techs are present on both day and night shifts; charge nurses generally do not take patient assignments
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7
• Scrub colors are provided: seal blue for L&D nurses and OB techs, navy for postpartum nurses
• Holiday shifts will be worked into the permanent staff rotation
• Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts (12-hour orientation period)
