Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a GI/Endoscopy position in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of Endoscopy experience and active Epic proficiency.

Details

• Outpatient and Hospital Endoscopy locations on the same campus
• Unit features up to 9 procedure rooms with 36 pre/post bays/beds
• Patient population includes both inpatient and outpatient cases
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
• Approximately 18–21 procedures per room per physician per shift
• Common procedures include moderate/conscious sedation, ERCP, and endoscopic procedures requiring fluoroscopy
• Equipment used includes Olympus scopes, ERBE cautery units, fluoroscopy, and IV pumps
• EMR systems are Epic and Provation; Epic experience within the past year is required
• Day shift, 5x8 schedule with hours of 7:30 AM–4:00 PM; 2–3 late days per week based on recovery/procedure census
• Weekend coverage required up to once per 6-week schedule period
• On-call requirement of 4–7 call days per 6-week schedule, 2 of which may fall over a weekend
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active RN license in Missouri or a Compact license qualifying for Missouri licensure
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Endoscopy experience required
• Experience with procedure room documentation, patient admission and recovery, and moderate/conscious sedation required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR within the past year required
• Basic dysrhythmia knowledge required
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for most of the shift; ability to push/pull up to 40–50 lbs, grip up to 50 lbs, and perform low-positioned work (kneeling, crouching, crawling minimally)
• No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
• Must be available to start within 4 weeks of consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include direct patient care across all age groups, encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Must be skilled in procedure room turnover, working with delicate endoscopic instruments, and coordinating care with ancillary departments
• Ability to work with fluoroscopy and video/fiberoptic endoscopic systems is required
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with physicians and staff in a fast-paced, team-driven environment are essential
• CGRN certification is recommended within 2 years but is not required at the time of hire
• Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Black scrubs or facility-provided surgical scrubs are required; no other attire is acceptable
• RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up before the end of the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a separation period or facility transfer is required
• The facility is a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center and a Level 2 Stroke Center
