Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Flex Pool position in Hawaii, requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg or Step-Down experience and active HI RN licensure by start date.
Details
- Flex Pool RN role floating between multiple medical and surgical units, including a Medical Unit (77 beds), Laulima Surgical Acute Unit (18 beds), and Cardiovascular Unit (15 beds) on rare occasions
- Patient population includes adult medical and surgical cases, with occasional cardiovascular patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: Medical Unit 1:6 (days/evenings) and 1:8 (nights), Laulima Unit 1:6, Cardiovascular Unit 1:4; ratios may vary
- 12-hour day shifts, 0645–1915, scheduled 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation
- Meditech EMR in use
- Equipment includes Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes
Requirements
- Active HI RN license required by start of assignment; must apply for licensure upon acceptance of offer if not already in hand
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC
- Experience in Med/Surg and/or Step-Down settings required
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes preferred
- Documented proof of immunity required; medical and religious exemptions will not be accepted in lieu of documentation
Additional Information
- Float assignments cover the Medical, Laulima Surgical Acute, and Cardiovascular units, with orientation time provided for each
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the assignment start date; candidates should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend a Friday Employee Health appointment
- Orientation is provided during the first week before the standard 36-hour weekly schedule begins
- Professional nursing attire (clean scrubs) required
- 13-week contract
