Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU/CCU position requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and a SANE certification in hand.

Details

• Work in the ICU/CCU department of a hospital setting
• Care for ICU and Progressive Care patients requiring pressors, sedation, thrombolytic therapy, electrolyte replacement, cardiac monitoring, cardiac drips, hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilator/BiPAP support
• Perform bedside procedures including chest tube placement, intubation, line placement, cardioversions, lumbar punctures, and thoracentesis, which may require conscious sedation
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirement of every 3rd weekend, with potential for every other weekend
• Holiday rotation required, generally 3 of 6 major holidays
• Floating required to Med Surg and potentially to an affiliate hospital nearby depending on volume/census
• May be required to float or take call at the Center of Hope, located 20 minutes from the main ER
• No standard call requirement
• Uses Meditech charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) required, or willingness to obtain before start
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS (PALS preferred)
• SANE certification required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care nursing experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Skills in respiratory/thoracic care, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator patient care, IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, renal failure care, and IV insulin protocols preferred

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU/CCU and Progressive Care patients
• Any scrub color accepted, professional appearance required
• No parking costs
• Maximum RTO of 7 days; if requested during holidays, must be willing to work at least 1 of the 3 major holidays
• Must not have been directly employed by the facility within the 12 months prior to the anticipated assignment start date
• Returning staff must have been gone at least 3 years before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Locals accepted, defined as living within a 50-mile radius of the hospital, with local rate differential applied
• Preferred completion of up to 8 hours of orientation modules within 1 week of signing
