Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step-Down Unit position at an acute care hospital, requiring at least 2 years of bedside experience and proficiency with vents, vasopressors, and insulin drips.
Details
- Step-Down Unit (SDU) at a 233-bed acute care hospital
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Requires working 2 shifts every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday for day shift)
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to lower-acuity floors as needed
- Block scheduling is not available
- Procedures and equipment include titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, and insulin drips, as well as trach vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
- Charting is done in Epic; experience required
- Free parking on-site
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending IL license may be considered with notation
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of Step-Down or comparable bedside RN experience required
- Demonstrated experience with mechanical ventilators, vasopressor titration, and insulin drips required
- Must have been actively working at the bedside within the last 6 months
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Navy scrubs are required
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may remain placed at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
