Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract in Miami, FL, requiring at least 2 years of acute OR experience with ortho, spine, and joint replacement skills.
Details
- Operating Room (OR) unit within a 488-bed acute care hospital accredited by the Joint Commission
- Day shift schedule, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 29-bed OR unit serving a diverse surgical patient population
- Procedures include joint replacement, ENT, ortho, spine, urology, vascular, podiatry, thoracic, and plastic surgery
- Patient ratio of 3:1
- Team includes 1 Charge RN, 2–3 RNs, 2 Techs, and a clinical coordinator per shift
- EMR: Meditech
- Rotating weekends are a possibility
- On-call requirements over a 4-week period: 2 weeknight calls (7 PM–7 AM), 2 weekend 24-hour calls, and 1 holiday 24-hour call (if a holiday falls within the 4-week period)
- Equipment includes X-ray, preoperative, anesthesiology, lab, and EKG/electrocardiography equipment
Requirements
- Active FL or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment)
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an acute OR setting
- Ortho, spine, and joint replacement experience required (knee and hip replacement specifically)
- Must be proficient as both a scrub and circulator across all service lines
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- Two professional references required (Florida requirement)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- PALS and CNOR certification are preferred; prior charge experience is a plus
- RN responsibilities include observation, assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Navy blue or royal blue scrubs required; surgical-style scrubs are not acceptable
- The facility is a comprehensive stroke center and holds Blue Distinction recognition for stroke care, with a new Cardiology Center and Arrhythmia Syncope Center on site
- Ideal candidates are critical thinkers who are dedicated, reliable, and proficient in charting with strong bedside manner
